About the Author

Meet Lisa Ferguson

For more than twenty-five years, Lisa has served as a bilingual (English and Spanish-speaking), early childhood education professional, focusing on language and literacy, math development and play. As a classroom teacher, professional development facilitator, coach, university instructor, mentor, and conference presenter, Lisa has had the pleasure of working with administrators, teachers and parents across the country. In addition, she has served in various capacities in children’s ministry from volunteer to Director with Community Christian Church where she developed and launched an innovative Bible curriculum inspired by schools in Italy. She was also a home educator to her two children, who are now young adults.

Lisa currently works at the Erikson Institute, specializing in professional development for early childhood administrators and teachers. She is an author of Bringing Baby Home, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Chicago Mayor’s Office. Lisa also serves on the board of Reach Out and Read Illinois and is a member of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA). 

Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree from Moody Bible Institute and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education from National-Louis University. She lives in Chicago with her husband, Jon, co-founding pastor of Community Christian Church.
